Dun dun duuuuuuun

I'm a horrible blogger. I always start these things and never follow up on them. Shame SHAAAAME. Well, maybe this will be different. I'm officially chronicling....wait for it...wait for it...Our new house!

Basically, renting is kind of miserable and we realized that we could own a home for essentially the same amount of money. No brainer, right? So, by some sort of magic, we got a mortgage went through the arduous process of house hunting and BAM finally landed an amazing home. We're currently in the waiting-for-close process. Welcome to our crazy, first-time-homeowner mess. Also, any other craziness I throw your way.

If I manage to update this regularly for the month, I'm treating myself to Coldstone Creamery. Just saying.

Ok, now getting to the nitty gritty; in other words, here is where I start talking to myself about everything and pretend that someone else is listening because Mr Dubs is passed out and tired of hearing me ramble. Are you excited? You probably shouldn't be.

We know its typical to have a wait for close, but this is a bit more stressful. The property we bought is bank-owned (a foreclosure). For some reason (money) the bank decided to rent out the unit while waiting for it to be sold. So, as of right now, there is a renter living in our soon-to-be home. The renter has been nothing but an epic pain in the butt. They insisted on being there during every showing/walk through we've had. It wouldn't seem like a big deal, but since we're going to drop a wad of cash on our first house, we kind of want to check things...but you just feel awkward with the tenant following you around. Also, being that it is a bank owned property, all appliances and fixtures are to stay and are not the property of the current renter. Our biggest fear in this whole process was that the renter would A) steal appliances/light fixtures/etc or B)trash the house because they pretty much are forced to move out since the house sold. The listing agent working for the bank assured us that there would be no issues.

Perfect, right?
Wrong.

We went through the house a few days ago during our home inspection and noticed that the light fixture in the dining room was different then our previous walk through. Get upstairs and one of the ceiling fans was missing and there were just exposed wires. WHAT. THE. HECK. Thank goodness we have a pit bull of a real estate agent. She sent a nasty email to the listing agent demanding answers. Now I'm just terrified of the renters running off with the rest of the (really nice) ceiling fans and appliances. Why do people insist on being shady?

On a plus side, we scored an a-MAZ-ing deal on a washer and dryer today. Last week we wandered into Home Depot and found an LG front loader set that had been marked down because they were floor models of last year's design. It wasn't a great deal, only 10% off the original $1100 each. Meh. Today we stopped into the same Home Depot to get some sandpaper and the same set was sitting there. I went back over to look at the measurements and HELLO the price dropped! They were marked down half off the original price. After inspecting every nook and cranny, checking online reviews of the make/model from my phone, and then reading the finest of fine prints on the warranty it came with I was sold. I literally guarded them with my body (and the that of Boy Dubs) until husband paid for them. The washer and dryer were the only appliances NOT included with the home, so we have been on the hunt. The only problem now is that we literally have no room in our current rental for them! We won't close for AT LEAST 3 weeks, so taking the space of our dining table will be two wild cherry red LG laundry units.

Any ideas on how to paint/decorate a laundry room when red behemoths are the center piece? I've googled it and the two main ideas are all white (no thanks, I've spent my life in rentals and white walls. GIVE ME COLORS) and aqua/light blue (not really feeling it). Ideas? Anyone? Bueller? Pinterest has even failed me.
